Defrazzling Poverty!

Have you ever wondered what it must be like to raise a child in abject poverty, where you didn't know if you would eat that week, let alone that day?
Have you any idea what it would be like to look at your little baby and know that you wouldn't live to see it grow up because you would be dead of AIDS long beforehand?
How would you feel if you looked at that baby and knew that you had infected that child with AIDS?
I live a pretty sheltered life here in Calgary in my lovely home in a nice suburb. I have no idea what that kind of suffering is like. However, millions of mothers in this world have those thoughts as their daily reality.
I never spent much time thinking about this before; it was always "out there", not here in my home. I felt sad, but was able to easily distract myself from the problem and get on with my life.
Well, I recently had a wake-up call.
On March 18, 2007, my local church launched a campaign to fight against AIDS and Poverty. They've called this campaign, "Compassion in Action". Here's how it will work:
A band of small groups received "seed money" from the church in order to raise funds to support four specific projects in the world. We are going to be living out the "Parable of the Talents". Each small group will chose one project to focus on, and we will work to invest this money at a profit in order to donate a much larger sum to these individual projects.
Rather cool, really.
Because of this, I am setting up a campaign on the Mom-Defrazzler to raise awareness. My goal is to get 30 people actively involved in EACH of the programs below - 150 people picking just one idea and running with it. Watch the graphs under each project so you can see how we're doing!

Here are the programs:
- Through Rockpointe Church I want to raise funds for the work in Cambodia. You can click here to get more information on this project.
I am looking for 30 people who will send a donation of ANY amount to this cause directly to RockPointe Church (this is a secure payment link much like PayPal). All donations over $10.00 will receive a Canadian Tax Receipt. If you need a tax receipt issued in your own country, you might check with your country's Head Office for the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and see if they can help you.

- I am looking for 30 people who will do all 5 steps at the One.org site below. Find out what these five steps are by clicking the "Take Action" button on the home page. These steps are mostly free, except for purchasing a wrist band, which is $10.00 US for 10 bands. - I am looking for 30 people who will sponsor an AIDS-affected child through Compassion Canada. I have 30 sponsorship packages sitting on my desk right now that I want to give to folks who will sponsor these children faithfully over the next several years. - I am looking for 30 people who will send a donation of ANY amount to Compassion's "AID's INITIATIVE" program either through their Canadian Office or their American Office. Either of those links will give you more information on the project though the American Link has much more detail.

- And finally I have a rather ingenious system here for those of you who would like to help the underprivileged and actually give yourself a financial boost as well. NetMarkAid is a company that raises funds for poverty relief using a multi-level marketing platform. My goal here is to raise significant funds on an ongoing basis so that I can continue to support both the Cambodian orphanage project and Compassion Canada in the long term.
Here's how this works: Let's just say, that you upgrade to President and that you could convince only three of your friends to upgrade to any level and next month they convinced 3 of their friends to do the same, the following month these people introduced 3 of their friends and so on. In just seven months YOU could be directly responsible for having raised enough money to nourish 13,116 Infants... and you would earn between $5,000.00 and $15,000.00!
And if those Members committed to purchasing just one $30 Aid Pack or any product that generates 30 Aid Points every month, then you would receive at least $5,000.00 every month indefinitely!
But, maybe you will need to absorb that last paragraph one more time and really think about it. Would you seriously hesitate to participate in a program that could nourish thousands of children every month, where all you need to do is invite a few other people to join our community, EVEN if you did not get paid?
ALL funds raised through this program will go to support these projects. NONE will be going into my own pocket. So for this project, I'm looking for 15 people who will sign up at the Presidential Level supplying food for 5 children a month, and 15 people who will sign up for the Ambassador Level supplying food for two children for a month. NetmarkAid has a project in a Cambodian fishing Village. You can see what they're doing under "Missionnutrition" and then "Communities". This is the project I will be supporting.
