Walking together
to a place of calm . . .

Sometimes we are so buried under the chaos that we just can't see our way forward. As a "good mom" we think great mothering should somehow be a natural thing for us. We forget that ALL moms struggle somewhere, and that this amazing responsibility was never meant to be carried alone. All of us get lost in the chaos of mothering, and feel inadequate, guilty, and overwhelmed. Sometimes we simply need an objective viewpoint to help us get back on the path that we know, deep in our souls, is right for our family.

Like Sandra*. . .

Sandra knew she needed to keep her house in some sort of order, but honestly didn't know how to do it. She understood the individual tasks, but had no idea how to create a system. A system that made sense to her whole family.

Together we talked about the things in her life that were important. Then we created a workable housekeeping system that enabled her to keep up with both housework and those things that were important to her. Her whole family got on board because the system made sense - even to them.

Then there was Ruth* . . .

Ruth was not a great cook. She hated the stress of making meals every day, especially knowing that her family probably wouldn't like them anyway. To her it was wasted, frustrating effort.

Together Ruth and I talked about the kinds of foods her family liked, and discussed what it was they complained about with Ruth's cooking. We then looked at the kinds of recipes that Ruth could already make without a lot of effort on her part, and talked about how to easily modify those same, familiar recipes, to suit her family's tastes.

Perhaps you're more like Amanda. . .

Amanda has two children: one quiet one, and one that races around the house and is often agressive. She struggled with feeling overwhelmed by the "wild child" and prefering the calm one. This created huge feelings of guilt and inadequacy.

Together Amanda and I talked about her "wild child's" behaviour and things that might be causing it. We then discussed simple strategies to help this child deal with their excessive energy, and also activities and strategies to build a more positive relationship between mother and child.

There are many more stories I could share, but I'm wondering if you're already feeling "connected" to one of these situations. If so, perhaps you'd also appreciate an objective look at your own situation, and some proven strategies to make a difference.

If you feel like this is something you're looking for, I would love to come alongside you and walk with you to a place of calm. Some of the areas we can look at are:

  • Housekeeping/decluttering/organization (usually in person)
  • Time management
  • Self-Care and wellness
  • Meal planning
  • Parenting
  • Marriage
  • Personal Finance
  • Personal goals and dreams
  • Or . . ?

If you choose to go with the mentoring, you have two options:

  • we can go session by session, with each 1 hour session costing $35 to be paid in full before we start

    or
  • for bigger problems we will assess the situation, and I will give you a flat fee to complete the project, set up a system that works, help you develop the habit of maintaining what we've set up, and then follow up to make sure you're keeping on top of things.
  • If I am meeting you in person (for things like de-cluttering and housekeeping, etc) and you are outside of NW Calgary, I charge $.35/kilometer in addition to the mentoring fee.

I'd love to be able to help you become more relaxed and joyful as a mom. I'd love to show you how to vastly reduce the stress in your life, and live each day as a gift. If you think this kind of mentoring might be a good fit for you, contact me today, and let's see what we can set up.
